YES. A big and bold YES is the answer to the question. Astrology is definitely an illegal profession. But it is not specifically written in the CrPC. It is categorised in ‘cheating’ groups of crimes. Cheating in any form including in the form of astrology has been made criminal offence. As astrologers are cheaters beyond any doubt, holy professions as of astrologers, purhits, gurubabas, gyangurus, of godmen etc could not be included in the legal and honourable professions as listed in the Profession Tax Act of West Bengal, and their illgot money could be shared by the Government and by the public by way of taxation. As such while passing the order rejecting the astrologer’s petition for enrolment, I instantly ordered to refund the amount of tax he deposited in the Government Treasury in advance, (perhaps astrologically predicting his success in my office.) On that very day it was settled that profession of astrology is illegal. Twelve years have been passed since
then. The Government, the society and even the astrologers themselves accepted the Government findings expressed in my order. The question which is answered and admited in this way need not be raised again. The appropriate question we may now ask, if it was decided and accepted in this way then why these criminials are openly doing their business,how even the educated people including the Chief Minister of the socalled progressive State are worshipping such criminals? Why is the Registrar of Societies granting registration to the astrlogical training centers when their declared motive ( in writing) is to promote crminial activities and to violate provision of criminal law? Why the respectable newspapers publising advertisements encouraging promotion of crimes?
Let our wisemen including pro and anti astrologers find the answer.

No, brother Biplab. My 28th July reply should not strictly be taken as a comment – ‘Darun’ or ni-Darun. Rather it may be regarded as an invitation for comment. I wanted answer in respect of some questions those are listed in the last para of my reply. I want to know the answers from the astrologers and their accomplices and also from honourable gentlemen. Let me elaborate those once again.
Twelve years hence I, being a statutory authority with quasi-judicial power conferred by the Constitution of India, declared legally (not personally) that astrologers are cheaters and antisocials and addressed them as enemy of the civilisation. Still the declaration continue to remain as Government evaluation in respect of holy professionals like an astrologer. I do not understand why the defamed people have not challenged the order by way of an appeal before higher judicial forum so that my order is quashed,their honour is restored and their utter humiliation ends. Have they admitted the government evaluation? Or have they astrologically calculated that no nila pola can change the astrologers’ dishonourable fortune? Perhaps they are born to bear such shame so long they survive. Why are the astrologers and gyangurus tolerating such humiliation with their heads down when some people and even the government use harshest possible adjectives before uttering their ignoble names? Why they are not going to the court to file a defamation suit. Are they afraid of humiliation even more than this? Is there no astrologer brave enough to reply these honestly? Or to kill men like us by their remort astrlogical super powers?
Now my humble questions before the persons who care the people and the society are:
1. Why not a single astrologer in this country could be convicted for commiting the crime of BEING AN ASTROLOGER?
2. And what are the effective strategy deliberated by the rationalists to that end?
3. What step should be taken so that registration of the astrological schools granted by the Registrar of Societies are cancelled?
4. What action has been taken by the rationalists (the only people to whom we may hope)to cancel Trade Licences of astrologers granted by Panchayets and Munipalities?
5. What action has been taken to amend the Drug And Magic Remedies Act 1954 that may be armed in the changed circumstances to combat the recharged astrological crimes? [It is found that with the aid of the power of money and muscle as well as of political lobbing,
the astrolgers are carryng on their criminal activities. Also they are taking the advantage of the loopholes of law and of inaction of different social service organisations.]
6. How can the Government Income Tax Department accepting the share of income earned by way of criminal activity? [ In the same way one day an ITO may justify his demand of income tax from a burgler]
7. What legal action has been taken against media who are promoting and propagating the business of antisocials like astrlogers, godmen gyangurus etc.
