ITANAGAR: Union home minister P Chidambaram on Friday said New Delhi would soon take a decision on replacing the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) with a “more humane law”.

“Justice Jeevan Reddy has already prepared a report with recommendations for replacing AFSPA with a more humane law. It was studied by the second administrative reform commission, which has forwarded its report to my ministry. I have submitted the report to the Cabinet (with a note) which will take a decision soon,” Chidambaram said during a press conference here.

He convened a high-level security meeting before the press meet. tnn
