Kashmir has never been part of India: Arundhati Roy

We give below a very relevant piece of news in connection with Arundhati Roy and her stand on Kashmir. Our organization was always of the opinion that Kashmir has been forcibly acquired by India and the people's revolt there is justifiable. We have been writing articles and booklets for the last two decades elaborating the history of the Kashmiri people. The situation has come to such a state that immediate step has to be taken to free the people of Kashmir. [ref to appeal in www.srai.org dated 19 September, 2010] .About a hundred thousand people have been killed by army and hundreds are still missing in this small valley with a population of about 70 lakhs. If we take the stock from the year 1953, more than 2 lakh inhabitants of the Kashmir valley have been killed or are simply erased by the Indian army. Is this a free country? Can we still call Kashmir a part of our Nation? We are with Arundhati Roy and demand justice for the common people of Kashmir. Prabir Ghosh, General Secretary Science & Rationalist Association of India

Centre may slap case on Arundhati

Arundhati had vocally stated that Jammu and Kashmir was never a part of India

Allahabad: Booker prize winner and activist has whipped up yet another storm by stating rather vocally that Kashmir was never a part of India.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police is looking into the controversial speech of Arundhati Roy on Jammu and Kashmir's accession to India and does not rule out taking action against the high profile writer and activist. In fact, sources in the government said that a case under 124-A under Indian Penal Code for sedition is possible against Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and writer Arundhati Roy for their anti-India speeches. J&K Police looking into controversial speech The Jammu and Kashmir Police is looking into the controversial speech of Arundhati Roy on Jammu and Kashmir's accession to India and does not rule out taking action against the high profile writer and activist. Highly-placed sources in the state home department said the transcript of the speech delivered yesterday at a seminar 'Wither Kashmir: Freedom or enslavement' organised by Coalition of Civil Societies (CCS) here has been handed over to the legal department for examination. Meanwhile, the law officers of Delhi Police have concluded that there is a case for booking writer Arundhati Roy and hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani for sedition under Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code. But the decision on whether to actually take action will be made only after further consultations at the highest level, sources in the Home Ministry said. Delhi Police sources said they had sought legal opinion on the nature of charges, if any, against Geelani and Roy, and clearance from the Home Ministry. If legal opinion favours registering a case against the Booker prize winner, the state police would register the same, sources said. Roy is alleged to have questioned Jammu and Kashmir's accession to India. "Kashmir has never been an integral part of India. It is a historical fact. Even the Indian government has accepted this," she said, and also alleged that New Delhi became a "colonising power" soon after its independence from British rule. This is not the first time the writer has run into rough weather over her speeches. Earlier, her pro-Naxal write up and speeches had forced Chattisgarh Police to seriously think of booking her for waging war against the country. On another occasion, Biswajit Mitra, a former BSP leader, had accused her of supporting naxals and demanded action against her following which Director General of Chattisgarh Police Vishwa Ranjan had asked the state legal department to give their opinion.

Roy has come under criticism for her article on naxals -- "Gandhian with guns". The Chief of Chattisgarh Police had said in April this year, "I do not know whether Arundhati Roy has been wrongly influenced by others or she is actually a mole in the civil society. How do I know?" Cong wants Arundhati to withdraw J&K statement A senior Congress leader asked noted writer and activist Arundhati Roy to withdraw her statement on Kashmir, saying it was 'contrary to historical facts' and could mislead the nation and the international community. Reacting to the comment made by the writer at a seminar in Kashmir on Sunday, AICC member Satya Prakash Malaviya said, "It was really surprising to see such an irresponsible statement from someone who is one of the country's best-known writers.

"She must withdraw her statement which is contrary to historical facts and could mislead the nation as well as the international community," he said. The Booker Prize winning author had said "Kashmir has never been an integral part of India. It is a historical fact. Even the Indian government has accepted this." The former Union Minister said that Roy "would do better to brush up her knowledge of history and know that the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir had acceded to the Union of India after its erstwhile ruler Maharaja Hari Singh duly signed the Instrument of Accession on October 26, 1947. "And the state, consequently has become as much an integral part of India as all the other erstwhile princely states have." Source: Agencies Courtesy: MSN NEWS, 26/10/2010

All constituents states ofcurrent India prior to independence were never part of India. After.independence people & countries (enimies) started hiring some pseudo intellectuals by arranging get togethers & seminars, lavish parties in 5star hotels & stays in & out side India to propogate anti national mis information to attain the only goal of their agenda,India bashing!! The irony of Indian constitution is that in the name of democracy hands of law reach them very late or due to red tapism, corruption & systemic failure & lack of political will of a party who ruled India most of time, have not reached. Don’t worry the current govt. Pray God, will end their hagmoney & soon you will c them in their right place(Jail).

If all the above people were living in Kashmir, they would have entire different opinion. Just because they are not the ones living that life under the army, nor their children are abducted because they didnot carry their ID cards on their friendly outings. Hindustan is not a Hindu state. It is a secular state. And Kashmir does more harm to people than hold a heritage value to India.

Arundhuti Roy, It’s the very same so-called “intolerant” nation where you enjoy all the rights and privileges to speak of things which are borderline anti-national without being threatened or illegally arrested. What an irony.

By forcefully occupying Kashmir against people’s desire, India has dented her image as a true democracy. It’s time good Indians realise the bitter truth!

Kashmir has never rightly been the part of india. It is a forced occupation, Nehru signed treaty with Sheikh Abdullah, the PM of then Free Kashmir to send troops to kashmir for fighting Afghans who raided india, however troops were never withdrawn since then.Like Lal bahar shastri said “Freedom is my birth righ” , it applies for kashmiris as well. One day kashmir will be free it may take another 50 years but people of kashmir will keep fighting . Also what happend with kashmiri Hindus is is sad and inhuman and every kashmiri is sorry for that, if governor jagMohan wanted he could have stopped all that brutality but he had political intrested , instead of stopping the killing he asked armed forces to kill and threaten Pandits, it was nothing but a political move. All this outrage kashmiri Pandits have today should be against indian Govt , Indian army forced Pandits to leave their houses.

Arundhati Roy would have been a hero indian if she would have said anything good about Modi or may be justified all the killing and outrage against Muslims over bloody beef ban. Why can’t indian people tolerate truth KASHMIR HAS NEVER BEEN PART OF INDIA.
Let’s talk about culture, we don’t share any cultural similarity with indian culture, we don’t share language with india and most inportant we don’t like bloody india.
Let us live freely , India has to leave kashmir free oneday.Britishers had to leave india after 200 years , we have been fighting just for 50 years , but we will keep fighting and throw indian filthy forces out within 50 more years.
Kashmir will be free one day….

By legal aspects Kasmir became part of India, but morally it is not untill the people of Kasmir decide it through election. As being a princely stare Hari Sing declared joining the Indian union, on 26 October, 1947 sitting in Delhi! Which was controversial. Under UN arbitrary, India agreed for arranging “election” so that people of Kasmir can decided their destiny. Which was not arranged by India by last 68 years. Let’s India arrange the election and see whether Kasmir is an “integral part of India” or not!

Also, “princely state Hydrabad” was not the part of India. Nazim of Hydrabad never joined Indian Union. India forcefully occupied Hydrabad by “Operation Polo”. Hydrabad must had been an independent country.

India and Indians must not maintain “double standard”. If you think Kasmir is India’s integral part, leave Hydrabad, if you think Hydrabad is India’s integral part, leave Kasmir. Don’t play double standard policy!

Indian Occupation is Kashmir is a record breaking Shamelessness. the Hindu Baniya keep mourning about so called “Atoot ang” and Kashmiris Hate India from core of their hearts.
The fact is that India illegally occupies Kashmir , Hyderabad, jonah Garh etc which were Muslim dominated areas. Pakistan kept quite on Hyderabad, jonah Garh but not Kashmir. India could not bring the so called Maharaja’s authentic letter to show he sold Kashmir to India.

These Indian Hindus never been to Kashmir , infact 99% cant even afford to come to Kashmir but they rant about Kashmir as being part of India etc.
Kashmiris hate India and will nnever be part of India ever. we are Pakistanis and will be Pakistanis forever. Indians cant control over 40% of India being run by Moaists and Northeastern separatists movements and they talk about eeping Kashmir as part of India. Kashmiris along with Sikhs Tamils Northeastern peoples will get their due freedome from Delhi very soon

Kashmir is a Dispute between India and Pakistan and it needs to be resolved. There are many princely states who acceded to Pakistan like Junagarh, Manawar and Hydrabad Deccan but India forcibly occupied those using military on the plea of majority population of Hindus…. if same rule is applied to Kashmir.. then it comes in share of Pakistan….. If India is not willing to resolve Kashmir Dispute… we are here to raise disputes of Junagarh, Manawar and Hydrabad Deccan as well …. I want to tell Indians that we are neither going to forget or stop supporting efforts of our Kashmiri brethren for liberty from the yoke of Indian slavery….

My dear Arundhati, I was your big fan as a great novelist and after recent episodes of returning your award and speaking out the truth on Kashmir, you have become my darling angel, my love. You define what is bold and beautiful in real life. You are the devi of oppressed, a candle of hope for the lesser beings. You have kicked off a big controversy that has started churning convulsions in stomachs of many Indian nationalists but it would not deter brave ones like you to show them the light. One day I will invite to Lahore and show you how we all love you for your work.

Kashmir is such an integral part of India that they have to kill more than 2 hundred thousand their own Kashmirs, rape 50 thousand women and childrens, keeping 7 hundred thousand Armed to teeth Army over 7 million unarmed civilian, just to prove it is integral part of India. When all the brutality to Muslims for decades by majority Hindu Nazis finally backlashes on peacefully coexisted for centuries Hindu and they started fleeing for safety, these ugly roaches started screaming and calling it unjustified.
