Supreme Court on encounter killings by Police

“Fake encounter killings by cops are nothing but cold-blooded brutal murder, which should be treated as the rarest of rare offence and police personnel responsible for it should be awarded death sentence. They should be hanged.”—Justice Markandey Katju said in connection with encounter case in killing of a gangster in Rajasthan.

Today these have been a common practise by Indian establishment. I deeply condemn the violation of Human rights by Indian police and defence forces. The verdict is an appropiate one and a tight slap to the Indian government. At the same time, I stress on some measures to prevent these malpractises- 1. a general awarness on Human Rights should be grown up among the common people. 2. Human Rights should be made a compulsory subject in all boards from class six upward. 3. Human Rights commission should be given the power to inflict punishment on the personnels found guilty of breaching human rights, not merely recommending punishment to the state governments 4. para military and military forces should be braught under uniform civil law. 5. exemplary punishment should be given to the rogue personnels. Only throught this way I think we can stop these dirty games.

Justice Katju did not say anything new that fake encounter killing is as good (or as bad) as cold blooded murder. He only quoted what was told by many people for many years. To acquire such knowledge, we need not consult judicial verdict or to learn code of human rights in schools. I, along with hundreds of idle cowards saw before more than forty years, the bloods of eleven teenagers
flowing through a single wall in a single morning at Beliaghata when our good Sidhartha S.Roy rejoiced with the books of Gandhi in hands and when Great Indira congratulated him for his success. And both of them is worshipped and their ideals are followed still now by the present popular leader of Bengal!!!
