Research Management Specialist Certificate

LevelUp Your Expertise

The Research Management Specialist (RMS) Certificate is a career-advancing credential for research administrators seeking to elevate their expertise and expand their professional opportunities. Offered by the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI), this certificate validates your mastery of core research management principles and demonstrates your ability to think critically and strategically across the entire research lifecycle—from pre-award planning through post-award management to compliance oversight.

Unlike credentials that focus solely on knowledge retention, the RMS Certificate emphasizes practical application. You'll develop immediately transferable skills through SRAI's LevelUP modules and mGuides, then prove your competency by completing a real-world capstone case study that showcases your problem-solving abilities.

Advance Your Career

The RMS Certificate positions you for:

  • Enhanced credibility with institutional leaders, faculty, and sponsors
  • Greater career mobility within and across research institutions
  • Competitive advantage for promotions and new opportunities
  • Professional recognition as a skilled research management practitioner
  • Preparation for advanced certifications such as the Certified Research Administrator (CRA)
  • Increased confidence to tackle complex research administration challenges

This program is tailored for individuals who aspire to establish a career in research administration and are dedicated to embarking on a comprehensive journey to enhance their professional knowledge and skills.

Upon completion, you will be sent a Certificate and Digital Badge to showcase your hard work! The Digital Badge can be showcased on various social media platforms and in your email signature for everyone to recognize your accomplishment.

You must complete all certificate requirements within three years. Each course or subscription purchase provides 365 days of access; if you have not completed the required modules within that access period, you will need to renew or repurchase access to continue. Modules may be purchased individually or through an Unlimited subscription, with each option providing one year of access.

Only CEUs from the LevelUP Micro-credential Program are eligible for the RMS certificate. This is a unique, self-contained program that offers both capacity building and competency demonstration for modern research administration professionals. The curriculum and structure for LevelUP are governed by an independent Council to maintain educational integrity and a high level of quality control.
