A SIMPLE QUESTION- why do we require police? is it to protect us or to abuse us?

Joygopal, don’t ask silly question. Why would the police protect you or us? And why should we expect that? Because we are common people, neither M.L.A, M.P, nor the TATA -Birla. They don’t have so much spare time to redress the grievances of common people. This is the real charecter of our police. They rather would spent that time extorting money from the truck drivers or local goons and oiling the influencial persons. Yes, the only exception where they are over active is when the question is suppressing Maoist insurgency. Then their nice activities even would make Nero or Timur ashamed, who are infamous in History for their brutality and genocide. I am not supporting the Maoist led assasinations, but is the state sponsored counter terror is the only answer of it? What a great country we are living in, yaar! Really mera Bharat mahan !!
