We in Delhi have initiated a petition on a related issue, viz. the Indian state's vilification program evident in the charge-sheet brought out against Kobad Ghandy. That document names several well-known civil and democratic rights organisations and individuals as Maoist sympathizers, simply because they have consistently raised their voices against Operation Green Hunt, and its excesses. This is part of a growing McCarthyism aimed at clamping down on legitimate and democratic dissent.
