From members of SRAI, I had expected a bit more maturity. Jumping into conclusions based on just a newspaper article is certainly not very rational, particularly when that newspaper is well known to be very anti-CPM. Whatever is printed in a new paper is not absolutely true.
I don’t deny that it is highly possible that CPM armed cadres had terrorized people of WB for so long. In fact, I believe that it is a fact. However, I doubt that all the weapons recovered were “clean”- I mean not “planted”.
Lots of weapons were found wrapped in CPM party flag- that is the biggest reason I have such doubts. Would the cadres be so foolish to bury/hide the weapons with their party flag? Although I believe these weapons were actually used by CPM cadres, it is just my belief- not a proved fact. I hope rationalists will approach news papers with a fair bit of skepticism and look for other independent corroborating evidence before believing such controversial news.

No. 1 : War is an industry and that is why arms are made. If there is no war , the industry will break down.
No 2 : A gun is made to fight against a gun .
No 3 : No political party is bad . People are not good.
No 4 : Neither Buddha Babu or Biman Babu told the CPM supporters to kill villagers in Netai Gram nor Didi asked her people to abuse and slap, cancer affected Eliyas Khan ( can not remember the name properly ), an aged CPM supporter. So people do wrong thing and parties suffer a lot.

I partly agree with Bidesh. ‘Banning’ was just a comment — so set people thinking. And you have really thought about it.
Its very true. All weapons should be banned first. It is the arms manufacturers and arms dealers that are benefiting in the process.

An ex minister of erstwhile Left Front government was arrested on charge of organizing mass killing of opposition workers and burying the dead bodies to hush up evidences. If this charge is proved it will be difficult to believe that such heinous act took place without the complicity of top leadership of CPIM. Then the argument for banning CPIM will be strengthened.
